Financial Overview

In 2008, the Greater Yellowstone Coalition again ended our fiscal year with a healthy asset balance. Since the organization’s founding, we have had a strong membership base and a wide array of supporters from all across the country and beyond. Our more than 18,000 supporters across the globe have helped us achieve significant milestones in conservation over the years.

Revenue for the 2008 fiscal year totaled $3,298,206, and nets out to $2,727,128 after adjusting for unrealized losses on investments during the year (primarily on endowment fund investments). GYC's revenue is received through the generous support of individuals, members, businesses, and organizations, as well as foundation grants—and through additional income from other sources, in-kind gifts, and our endowment.

Expenses totaled $3,283,027.  The organization directed $2,477,290 to conservation and education programs to protect the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem's wild lands, water, and wildlife—77% of their total expenses.  General administrative and fundraising expenses which support GYC’s conservation mission totaled $805,737, or 23% of total expenses.

GYC's Board of Directors, finance committee members and staff are committed to strong governance, accountability and transparency.
